Hailing from Amsterdam, Bas was recruited early by PSV Eindhoven at the age of eight years old. Showing promise and an uncanny ability to anticipate movement off of the ball, he quickly became a favorite of his coaching staff for his unyielding commitment to a high-pressing offense without demanding the ball. He further endeared himself to his team, particularly other forwards, by accepting and excelling as the “assist-squared” player, or the player who sets up the player who sets up the goal.
Often a marauding presence on the left-center of the pitch, Bas is quick to receive the ball and find the open man cutting inside to the net. Armed with a quiet confidence, he maintains a perfect record in front of the goal as one the most reliable penalty takers on the Oak Forest FC squad. The only problem is he rarely asks to take the penalties!
His work ethic has made him a fan favorite at every stop along his professional career but he is particularly celebrated by the Oak Forest cohort for his devoted passion to bicycles. He has a small shop outside of the stadium and is often seen riding his custom-made bicycle throughout the streets, stepping in to play pickup games with the school kids around The Grove.
